Framing calculators and planners

Work out what you need before you spend anything. No account, no sign-up, and every calculation happens in your browser — nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored.

Which tool do you need?

Framing decisions come in a fixed order, and each tool answers one step of it.

Start with shape. Before anything else, check that your image and your intended print size are the same proportion — the aspect ratio calculator lists every standard frame that fits your file without cropping.

Then check sharpness. The print resolution calculator tells you whether the file has enough pixels for the size you want, and what your largest usable print is.

Then check the frame will close. The frame depth calculator adds up glazing, mats, artwork and backing against the rabbet depth of the frame you are considering.

Then plan the wall. The gallery wall planner lays out a grid to scale and gives you a hook position for every frame, and the hanging height calculator tells you exactly where the nail goes for a single piece.
