General information only
Everything on Zagi Frames is general reference material. It cannot account for your specific artwork, your wall, your climate or your budget. Where a decision is expensive or irreversible — an original artwork, an heirloom, an antique frame — get someone qualified to look at the actual object.
No conservation or appraisal advice
We describe conservation-grade materials and why they matter, but we are not conservators. If a piece has real financial or sentimental value, a professional conservator should advise on mounting and glazing. Likewise we cannot value an antique or vintage frame; valuation requires physical examination and current market knowledge that no website has.
DIY safety
The how-to guides involve mitre saws, blades, glass and wall fixings. Follow the safety instructions that came with your tools, wear eye protection, and stop if a cut feels wrong. Glass cutting produces edges that will open your hand before you notice. Heavy frames hung into drywall without a stud or an anchor rated for the weight will eventually come down — often onto something else.
You are responsible for work you carry out. We are not liable for injury, damaged artwork or damaged property arising from following a guide here.
Measurements and tolerances
Manufacturers vary. A frame sold as 11x14 may have a rabbet a sixteenth of an inch over or under. Mat openings are cut with an intentional overlap. Where a fit is critical, measure the actual frame and the actual artwork before cutting anything. Treat our figures as the standard, not as a guarantee about a particular product.
Prices and availability
Where we describe what something typically costs, that is a range observed at the time of writing, in US dollars, before shipping and tax. Prices move, stock disappears, and product lines are discontinued. Nothing here is a price quote.
No commercial relationships
We do not sell frames. We use no affiliate links, accept no sponsored placements, and have no paid relationships with any manufacturer or retailer named on the site. Where advertising is displayed it is served by a third-party network and is not selected, endorsed or reviewed by us — see the privacy policy.
External links
Links to other sites are provided for reference. We do not control their content and are not responsible for it. A link is not an endorsement.
Errors
We check our figures, and we still get things wrong sometimes. If you find an error, tell us at hello@zagi.online and we will correct it and say so on the page. Our standards for that are in the editorial policy.
