Independence

Zagi Frames takes no money from anyone whose products it describes. No affiliate links, no sponsored guides, no paid link insertions, no free samples in exchange for coverage, no guest posts. We are asked for all of these regularly and the answer is always no.

The site may carry third-party display advertising. Advertisers have no input into what we publish, no advance sight of it, and no ability to have anything changed or removed. Advertising is labelled as such wherever it appears, and never dressed up as editorial content.

How a guide gets written

1. Scope. We start from a question people actually ask — a size, a material choice, a task — and write the guide that answers it completely rather than one that circles it.
2. Numbers first. Dimensions, mat openings and conversions are worked out and shown, not asserted. Inches convert at exactly 2.54 cm and are rounded once, at the end.
3. Physical checking. Where a claim is about how something behaves — how a mat overlaps, how a mitre closes, how heavy a sheet of glass is at a given size — it is checked against a real frame, not a catalogue.
4. Review. A second person reads for accuracy and for the specific failure mode of framing content: advice that is technically true and practically useless.
5. Dating. Every guide shows when it was last reviewed. All 35 guides are re-checked at least annually.

What we will say plainly

That a size is hard to find. That a "conservation" upgrade is not worth it for a poster. That non-glare glass makes photographs look dusty. That custom framing costs three to five times an off-the-shelf frame and is worth it perhaps once a year. Being useful means being willing to talk people out of spending money.

Corrections

When we get something wrong we fix it on the page and say what changed and when. We do not quietly edit an error out of existence. Report one at hello@zagi.online; corrections are prioritised over everything else in the inbox.

Use of AI

Software assists with drafting, structure and copy-editing. It is not permitted to be the source of a factual claim. Every measurement, standard and recommendation on this site is verified by a person against a physical frame, a published standard, or arithmetic shown in the text, before it is published. A guide that could not survive that check does not go up.

Sourcing and quotation

We link out to primary sources — standards bodies, manufacturer specifications, conservation institutes — rather than to other blogs. We do not reproduce other people's charts or photographs. Quotations are short, attributed and linked.

Reader data

Editorial decisions are informed by which guides get read, never by anything identifying about who read them. What we collect and why is set out in the privacy policy.
